Power washed son's KQ450 (yeah, I know, power washing is a no-no). Afterwards, attempted to start it up to move it to its parking spot. It powered up, but would not turn over, nor would the fuel pump 'spin up'. Oh crap. Not good. Allowed it to dry a little more, hoping that moisture was causing some sort of electrical problem. Attempted to start it a while later. No dice. Turned on headlights to check battery power supply...all good there. Decided to check fuses. Found a fuel pump related fuse blown. Excitedly replaced fuse and tried to start. Nope. Power everywhere but no fuel pump or starter.
Thinking I had a serious problem (remember the blown fuse?), I took it to my dealer. Yound kid who signed me in told me it sounded like a PCM problem and to be ready for a ~$900 bill. Bummer.
Next day, shop calls me and says the KQ is fixed and running great and that I can pick it up at my convenience. AND, he said "no charge for the repair".
Huhhhhh!?!?!

Test Questions:
1)What did Dealer do to make the fuel pump and starter work again?
2) Why did I have a blown fuse?

I have read on the nyrocatv site that there are problems like that. It is mainly with the guys who do a bunch of mud and water riding. I would post your thread over there as it is a much better site for King Quad info. Some of the guys over there really impress me.

Haven't been back for while 'cause I've been watching my LSU Tigers win the national championship in baseball! Geaux Tigers!!!

Answers:

1) Blown fuse is unknown. Led me in the wrong direction.

2) Lack of starting was due to pure stupidity. The fuse threw me for a loop. The stupid kill switch was OFF !!!! shock
Gawd, I felt really, really dumb when I got that call from the shop! How the heck did that switch get pushed to the off position???? All I can guess is that the power washer pressure pushed it over.

Yep. Another humbling episode in my interesting life. Red Face

DOH! Slap

I have had those same moments. In fact, we were ready to head out on a fire call one afternoon and usually as I would jump up into the cab to the drivers seat I would hit the battery switch on the floor between the seat and door. This time as I jumped in thought I hit the switch but the truck would not start. I radioed to the Chief that the truck would not start so he would need to roll the engine from the main station. As they began to roll the other engine, one of my buddies came over to start helping troubleshoot and low and behold, there was the battery swicth in the "O-F-F" possition. Red Face

Sure beats a real problem though. The fuse sure is a strange thing. While washing, you must have gotten some conductive material momentarily between the positive and the frame to cause the fuse to pop.

Unfortunately, I was born and raised in the E TN mountains and have spent the last 20 year amongst the Cajun boys if S. La.
I never had a chance at avoiding redneckdom.
