Annie, Stutzismydog, Newzuki,

You guy’s have been quiet lately about your new KQ’s. Have you been riding? Any problems?

Newzuki, when we spoke at the potluck you were saying something about making skid plates, have you started?

Let us know.

Bung~
Annie and I are warm weather riders and the place we like to ride, about 20 miles from us, it is covered in snow,...so other than riding around the place, we have not ventured out. No problems and I don't expect to have any,....keep in mind that it is a SUZUKI. Big Grin

Bung,

I'm still loving mine. Took it out to Moab and it did quite well. The skids turned out pretty well and they were the most worthwhile for the time I put into making them I used all 3 and knocked them all good and hard at one time or another. No dents or scratches I couldn't live with. I still wish my 450 would do wheelies but I may have to deal with less power than the 700 because I'd lose my shirt trading or trying to sell right now. A co-worker just got his '07 700 and made me especailly jealous but for the riding I like the 450 is probably just fine.

Bung,
I haven't taken any pics yet. I will take off the rear and mid plates to make a couple for a friend who saw and liked. I can take a couple then. My bash plate looks ok for now, but I still need to cut and bend it a little more to make it smooth with the orig front grille.. Everyone says it looks fine but I want it to look better.
The best shot I have of the bash plate so far.

Any thought to using diamond plate for that front basher? My Foreman had one and it looked OK.

It is a darn nice machine! Thanks for letting me take a spin on it. Now I know why you can haul ass through the tight trails. Smoothhhhh...

Bung,

I took the skids off tonight and took a couple of pics. The orange stuff is rubber that I used as a buffer between the skid and the frame. Need to put some on the rear skid. More scratches than I thought there would be...
I did get a chuckle when I saw kind of a nasty looking scrape on the front of my mid plate. when I scratched at it I found that it was aluminum from someone else's skid that rubbed off on mine. Tough as nails!
ATVer- It is good to be King, even Tom Petty wrote a song about it. Don't have any SS diamond plate. Alu is too soft for me. Just have to take some time and refine the SS bash that I have now.

How about this skid? It has a 1/8" UHMW surface rivited on and is bent on a sheet metal brake to conform to all the metal bends. Rivet heads are all counterset 1/32" into the plastic to prevent snagging on rock.
Slick as snot on a doorknob. Big Grin

It's good to be King....

It’s good to be king, if just for a while
To be there in velvet, yeah, to give ‘em a smile
It’s good to get high and never come down
It’s good to be king of your own little town

Yeah, the world would swing if I were king
Can I help it if I still dream time to time

It’s good to be king and have your own way
Get a feeling of peace at the end of the day
And when your bulldog barks and your canary sings
You’re out there with winners, it’s good to be king

Yeah I’ll be king when dogs get wings
Can I help it if I still dream time to time

It’s good to be king and have your own world
It helps to make friends, it’s good to meet girls
A sweet little queen who can’t run away
It’s good to be king, whatever it pays

Excuse me if I have some place in my mind
Where I go time to time

Ah yes, ATVer is good to be King. But, what is even better is to be Queen and own a King. Ya'll surely know the Queen rules the King. snoopy

Why isn't it called the QueenQuad? Shrug ROFL

Stealth~ Girdle? -- Girdle? Eek -- I don't need no stinkin girdle! slap

Bung~ I had a back injury in December and was strongly advised by the doc not to ride my quad until April. The weather has been really nice this past week and it is very hard not to head to the hills for a ride - but - I am going to do my best to resist asking hubby to "load em up". As Stutz said there is still some snow in the hills but I bet we could find lots of low country to ride. Will post some pictures when we go the first of April. The creeks should be full and running hard. Can't wait!

Newzuki – skids look good. We need to hook up this summer so I can see then in person.

Glenlivet – did you make or buy the skid? How is it holding up?
