I thought batteries went bad in my MAGELLIAN EXPLORIST XL GPS yesterday, was working when we started out then quit on me, I changed batteries still no go, I just thought maybe batteries had gave up the ghost. Checking with brand new batteries and plugging in lighter still no go. Any good places for repair? It is a good unit and I really like it,hate thought of having to buy new.

I suspect you will most likely have to go to Magellan for repairs. They keep their product info pretty secret. I found this number - 800-707-9971 on their support page. You might try giving them a call or go to their web site and log on to their support page and send them a detailed description of the problem. I don't know the particulars of your unit but most of the time electronic units break and you try to repair them it is only a small amount below the price of a newer updated unit. Please let us know what happens.

I am here N41° 10' 54.7" W111° 58' 38.84", and I want to be here, N38° 26' 57.84" W112° 13' 49.83"!

I have been trying to update my Magellan Crossover using their customer support page. I ran into a problem with their web site. I would follow the instructions to download the update and after two of three different web pages, I would end up right back where I started. I finally went to their "contact us" and asked what was wrong. That was last night. Early this morning I got an email telling me how to work around this problem, which I just finished.

I am only writing this to say that even though their website is a little awkward to navigate, their response time is great.

OH WOW! THE GPS GAWDS have smiled down on me unit is working once again. I had gotten a quick responce from MAGELLIAN. Was going to call them, only way I could shut unit off was pull batteries out. So while waiting for them to answer phone put batteries back in so could explain what it was not doing. It was working even showed part of trail from other day till it quit working.

Sounds like the unit got into some kind of loop and when you pulled the batteries it reset itself. I hope that fixed it for good.

Hate to say this, but Magellan has one of the worst customer support systems. You talk to a person in India and they really don't know much about the product. If its in warranty, ship it to them.
