Neat pics, we use round bales also, but also use the big square half-ton bales. We feed the round bales to our cows, and sell the big bales. We just about can't get truckers to haul the round bales, but they work so well for us. One guy can feed a herd of cows, the power unit is much less for round, cost of baler is much less for round. But gotta do both if one wants to market his hay. I see you use netting, we sorta do both, depends on what we are baleing.

twine is sorta going out of style - you always seem to forget your knife and you will be at the back when you realise. However you can never find a bit of string when you want to tie something up. We do squares over here too but they are the same volume as the rounds

All good apart from having to feed out 8 cubic metres of maize and grass silage mix by hand (2 hour job surrounded by a mob of hungry cows)when the feed out wagon broke its floor chain taz. the waves were on the other side have a play with this it shows our part of NZ use the dairy number search (use 42357 and 41416 is where we will be in 3 months) and have a play with the zoom and you will get the ariel photos of us -HI taranaki

I had to wait till the Wifee woke up to show and tell me bout your area. She said where you are at is a beautiful area. Is your land under a Maori land claim? The Wife's friend (who is also livin here in Scottsville Ky, They knew each other since they we in there 20ies.) has tribal land in the Taranaki region.

We dont seem to get many land claims around this part however some farms West coast lease" which is land leased off iwi with a fairly good lease arangement that provides incentive for the occupier to stay and makes a tidy income for the iwi concerned. funny thing is that my great great great grandfather was a career soldier who came to NZ specifically to fight in the land wars. Bloody colonials Big Grin
