Over the past couple nights I have been slowly breaking the new machines in. I have a farm field at the end of the street I have been hitting, its been plowed so its really rough.

Took the X2, and Grizz 700 their last night, and the X2 definately has the smoother ride over the 700.

Just came back tonight after riding the X2, Grizz 700, and OL 800 over the same field. Its about 50 acres in size so I could really get a good feel between the three, and I was driving around 20mph. Again the Grizz 700 did the worse, I am beginning to determine the suspension isn't much different from the 660, there are many differences in other areas, but the overall suspension ride is pretty much the same. The OL 800 is just as plush, and provided an identical ride as the X2 did. Its really hard to tell which was smoother without more seat, but the Outlander felt a little smoother than the X2. I ll have pics and videos to back up what I am saying shortly. I will say I am very impressed between the two machines, there must have been at least 1 foot deep trenches, and they just glided over them.

Oh, I took the Rubicon through the same area two weeks ago, lets just say it was like riding a bronco bull, I was damn near thrown off.

That surprises me, I like the ride on the OL, but figured the Polaris would be a touch softer. Do you have the stock suspension on your OL? I have the rear shorties on the front and that definitly screwed the plush ride up.

The X2 should be a bit rougher unless you had about 100+ pounds in the box on the back to losen up the springs a bit back there then I would say it would be a touch smoother.

Yeah, I have always loved the Outlander how when you ride it, its like floating on a cloud, and yes the only other machine that came close is the Polaris. After riding the SP 800EFI, and now owning the SP X2 without the a doubt the Polaris's have one of the plushest rides out there. I agree with you guys both machines are very close to each other on the overall ride.

You know I bought the Outlander as a trail machine to replace my Grizz 660, since the Outlander was 10 times as comfortable as the Grizz. Now I have bought the SP X2 to replace my Outlander as a trail machine, and that was by no mistake, I knew the Polaris ride was just as comfortable. After getting some real seat time on the Popo, I am just even more reassured I made the right choice for the trail. With it being as comfortable as the Outlander I am very happy. I mean that field was rough, and you could really tell the difference between the Grizz, and the Outty and SP.

Man, I love these machines it is so fun to ride them, and really feel the difference. Its like kids, they are all different in their own way.

Atver, I have the suspension on the sofest setting, and no I have not swapped the rears to the fronts.

Its funny when I first did those major reviews on the Outlander, I thought the suspension was perfect. Sure the shocks were collapsed, and completely screwed up the Ground Clearance, but the overall ride was awesome. You really feel like you are riding on a cloud since they are so soft, and in some people's minds a little too soft. So when they offered to replace my springs, I passed on it. As long as they were not bottoming out on me, which they weren't I left them as is. As far as increasing the GC, I just run 27s, when I know I will be riding in super rough area, and I need the extra GC.

I just don't want to give up that plush ride. You look at what some guys have done to stiffen the shocks, and bump up their GC. I ride with Back2sportsman, and he added 1" spacers to his shocks, and we rode in Arkansas one time, at the end of that ride he was to drive the machine off the cliff, it was so rough. He had great GC, but the ride was rougher than hell. I had my Outty in stock setup, and I couldn't have been more comfortable the entire day.

I can't figure these guys adding the spacers, if you are doing it for a plow yeah. but for evetday riding you are styacking the spring and taking away from what they are supposed to do.

yeah, Cob the main reason they were doing it, and keep in mind it was on the early models like my machine, since the springs were collapsed it killed the GC, so they did it to increase the GC. Well like anything in life there is a trade off, and yes the GC got bumped up, but the ride was rougher than hell.

Now, I know a ton of people who did what Atver did, and that has solved all the issues, and really improved the ride. To me that is the route to go, or go and buy expensive shocks.
