I've been reading a few over on Aurora, has anyone heard anything from a reliable source?

I guess the 2010 models will be introduced in a month or two.

Hoping for PS... Angel

Yep, PS ould be nice..
Along with a NEW revised location for the BATTERY!! I tell ya, I get madder and madder each time I have to mess with anything with the battery on that outty.. That has to be the WORSE designed thing an engineer has ever come out with and as soon as I get some batt cable I am putting mine in the rear storage box... It fits like a dream, and I just need a longer ground.

Sorry for off topic...

I would also like to see maybe a revamped clutch setup, something with some more options, and a primary the the outer sheave cannot spin causing alot of the belt slippage with just a little hard riding....

I know alot of people are hoping for a sideXside.. I would like to see one also.. Though it would be a few years yet before I could THINK about getting one....

Well with the economy in the crapper, speaking for myself I don't care what they come out with. I won't be running out to get anything new, heck my baby is still new. Big Grin

Story might change after I take a Renegade for a spin. In all reality at least for myself, 650 cc's is plenty.

Yeah, 650cc in PA would probably run better (faster) then an 800cc at 10,000 feet above sea level. So you got plenty of power.

I'd like PS, but even if they come out with it, I don't see how I could afford it right now. Or later. And my shocks would have to fit on the new one.

The dealer that I talked to said they will be ordering next month and they would have Ps and maybe a 1000cc engine.

You're right orders for the 2010's are placed next month and dealers should start receiving them in July. PS is coming but BRP has not told us on which models, all I can tell you guys at this time.

I guess I just have one question. Why do we need a 1000CC quad? With all the activist and tree huggers out there trying to shut down the trails down this is going in the opposite direction. Where we ride in Arkansas the 800 Bomb is no faster than my 550XP.

You may be wright at sea leval but at 7000ft a 800 will have less power than your 550 at sea leval.Thats why big engines work well in the high county.

There's in argument not to highjack the post.

Living where I do, it is nice, but nothing compares to the scenery in the high country. IMHO, Zipping, zoom zooming is senseless. Sure keep a good pace, and being big enough to get you to the high areas.

Remember way back in the stone age days of 2000??? 600 cc's was the biggest baddest beast, then came a 650, 660 and 700. Sure I agree a 2 seater ATV will need a little more snuff for that added weight of the passenger. Jump way way back to the 80's 250 & 300 CC's were the Big Bores.

You can have the biggest baddest ATV out there, but you're still only going to go as fast as the slowest rider in the group. Do you know why they're so slow??? Unless they are a NewB, they are enjoying the scenery, or a combination of the 2. OR Maybe the yo-yo out in front is spewing up too much dust ripping through the trails like there's no tomorrow or no other riders out there.

I'll eat these words someday, as I already taste a few (tastes like chicken Wink , I hate chicken). I had a newB rider with me to the high country twice. 1st time wasn't noticed as much, 2nd time was a nightmare, a pro in there mind, far from a rookie in mine. A bigger bore ATV would have made no difference, well maybe just maybe they would've went slower then there already snail speed, too much of an ATV IMHO then what they were already riding.

So Back on Topic, I hope they have a 1500 Side-by-side with power steering, and a granny low range. Just enough to send the competition back to the drawing boards scratching there heads. With options such as heaters/defrosters. Have the XT Flag ship adding a detroit gear-less locker to replace the visco lok. It's going to have power steering, why not have a full time locker up front?

Would I run out and get 1??? Heck no 650cc's is plenty for me. Big Grin

We don't NEED 1000cc's heck, we don't need 800cc's. But people want it.

I assume that when you say the 800 is no faster then your 550, you mean on the trails? I've been on trails where I had a hell of a time keeping up with a Hondu 300. So I can see that.

But I know a few climbs that would have you puckered wondering if your 550 was going to make it to the top before stalling, (been there, done that)and the 800 would go up it at 1/2 throttle. SO I guess it goes both ways and we all have different needs depending on where we ride....

the 1000cc isnt going to be anything new.. artic cat has them, and they have them in sleds and BIGGER than 1000cc...
I dont see the big deal in it, and Im not gonna trade my 800 for the 1000cc either...
We ride alot of creeks/water, and the other 200cc isnt gonna help none... your only gonna go as fast as the sand and water is going to let you.. Any faster only means your tires are SPINNING faster, your not moving any faster! lol

But, to my point, I dont get why it is ok to have them in sleds, but not atv's? I dont see the big difference. Or maybe it is just the companies havent made them yet, but what alot of people say about why we need it, or about the activists and tree huggers out there, there are bigger bore sleds, and bikes than there are atvs and I just am not seeing the difference.. WHY are they not against all the other, or maybe they are, but I dont hear as much against them as I do atv's...

Yeah, I'd like to see a SxS from BRP, but I could care less if it 1000cc.. I believe the 800cc ROTAX is plenty for me...

But, this is all MY OPINION...

I will buy the 1000cc if it comes out...whenever it does....
I have some close contacts from Aurora that say something will be released this year and available for late 09..... Not sure yet what it is yet...More than likely the S x S will be released first with the available 1000 engine and then the Outty/Gade will be later on...

Havng riden both I can tell you that is like compareing watermelons to apples. No comparision between the two. Sleds have far lower center of gravity, they have far more ground contact, most from 10ft up. They are made for speed, mine would do close to a 100 MPH try that on a ATV. I climbed stuff with the sled that if you got stuck and got away from the sled on down side. You could not get back to it as the slope was so steep. You had to lay down on your belly and try to crawl back to sled, no way you doing that on a ATV.

We would find a wind swept meadow that didn't have a mark in it and cut a choogie aross it with a rooster tail flying high. Slide weight to one side and lay that suker over on the side and do some corners. All of this at speeeds well over 75 +.

There comes a time when you just have to say enough is enough. Mine came with the 800 that was kicking out 165 horses. It took me places I had no business being. That was when I decided that I didn't need any more. I would come back down POOPSIE would say "heard you back off it". You bet I did I was going places that scared the HELL out of me! stopsign

I rode the 500 (ATV) and had no problems going any where. But here in high country and the power loss we have. The 500 had it's hands full at times. The 700 gave me that extra edge to do things without taxing the machine. Very seldom the 800 is wide open, even on the road. I feel comfortable on open gravel road doing about 35 any thing over that I have terrible thoughts going thru my head. Worrying about what can happen and how fast it will happen. I always wear clean underware, but I know when they drag me out of that ditch, I hit at 60 mile an hour driving they won't be clean any longer! Shrug

DAM I need get my old videos out I really miss the sleds. windy

I can't wait to see the BRP sxs....should be serious business.

I've seen you go a lot of places you shouldn't have on your ATV Cob...no doubt you did the same on your Sled.

I know last month Can-Am was out doing photo shoots for the 2010 line up. Dont get to excited about a bigger motor anytime soon. The Rotax 800cc is still at the top of the game when Hp and speed are concerned. If a bigger displacement makes its way to the Outlander line look for the 990 motor from the Spyder. Plus there is still a lot of untapped power that Can-am can open up if they feel they needed more power than the 800R models. Easyer stearing maybe working its way toward outtys soon. Beer
