I'm afraid of the raping my wallet will get at the Stealer for an OEM Belt.

Try a google search canam oem belts. My results turned up a few, but never heard of them before.

The local stealer said they rarely sell one and don't even stock them. Suppose to last a long time. Hopefully.

Mine was replaced at 3000 miles due to the cover leaking and oil getting on it. I measured it, and it was still well within spec, hardly any wear at all and I had smoked it a couple times before I found out the quad had low range.

I think the boys over on aurora wheelers site have several "discounted" places they get them from. May want to do a search over there.

Get the Can-Am belt... The others DO NOT LAST.

That link above is the cheapest place I have gotten them at...

Now, EPI has a new one out, that is the closest thing to stock, and a little bit cheaper than stock, but, I have learned my lesson on the aftermarket belts.. And quick like.....
I would rather spent the little extra for good quality belt to last, than spend a little less money, and have to buy two or three of them at a time on the aftermarket...

I was on a budget crunch one time and just so happened my belt blew. I went with an aftermarket belt, and within 6 hrs ride time on it, it blew.. I ended up buying a OEM can am belt, and it is still on there today.....

I believe that is the cheapest price online you will find for them and definantly cheaper than the stealer........

The EPI belt costs almost as much as the Can Am belt from Parker. The only reson I'm trying it is I just wanted to know if it was any good.Wensday I worked it very hard and it seemed to be good. One thing that impressed me was it seems to run a little cooler

I agree about the factory belt... I don't think I will need one anytime soon but would like to carry a spare one on the trail just in case. Most of our rides are over a week or so. If trashed one, would be a while before getting back home... I will order one from Parker...
It is amazing how much cheaper the non-Cam-Am ones cost....If they were easier installing, might be worth the cost... Figure time required to swap out, not worth the cheaper cost to me...

thanks

Yep, hey those EPI's may be good, but I figure I am gonna let them boys test them first! lol Heck, If I was sponsored, and got most stuff like that in abundance, and for FREE, I would try anything also...
I was real impressed with the look of them..
When I said the closest thing to stock, I meant it is much beefier than the ultimax by carlisle, and the gator backs, and the Dayco's...
The thickness and size of it is very close to the size of stock, and the cogs in them are very close looking...
I hope they DO turn out to be comparable, or my wish is that an aftermarket company will EXCEED the quality of the OEM belt...

It's about time SOMEONE stepped up to the plate and made a comparable to OEM belt for these things.

Ya know, the Dayco HPX do great on the kawi's and popo's, but they just wont last on these can am's... Different clutch setup? or just more power to them, and harder on belts....
You can also clutch the bike to slip less with trial and error to suit your needs and type of riding.

I also thought at first, maybe get one of the cheaper aftermarket belts for a spare, then after the changing out and them not lasting, why wouldnt I get a good one that last, and when I change it, I am done... For around the same amount of time...
Like I said, I hope these epi's turn out to be great..

Anyways, I'm done rambling.. lol
Good luck with the EPI's.....

I'll probably take a beating for this, but here goes. Don't forget that CanAm tries to be the best and tries to use the highest quality parts available. It doesn't always work out that way of course, but maybe the belt is one thing that did turn out well. No one has been able to beat it so far for wear and durability. At least that I have heard about.....they cost a lot for a reason. THe quad and the belt I mean. Just my 2 cents.

Oh, I totally agree... You get what you pay for.. Especially in this case....

I just never have understood, an aftermarket belt company, making a belt, that is so below the stock belts on ANY machine...

I am a firm believer in OEM belts... Like I said, I bought a Carlisle Ultimax once, and have seen the gator backs, and the Dayco and the Dayco HPX belts, and every one of them on a Can am, never lasted the ride.... Even on well maintained trails that should be easy on them....

Like you were saying Can Am tries to be the best, And I guess it is why none of the other belts wont last on the can ams but will on other brands......

The DAYCO have never got a good report from use on a POLARIS. The GATOR BACK BELT we tested and sent back, they asked if I wanted to try more. I told them no I had enough of them already.

The EPI belt is the first aftermarket that I have found that workout. They cost almost as much as a BRP belt so their is no real savings.

Yeah, that is a bit ridiculous, shortened life I can understand (like a 1000 miles) but if you can't make it a whole ride, I think I would strangle someone with it! Smile Thanks for being the guinea pig tork..... Beer

Don't forget you need a metric bolt to take off the belt on the trail.

WoW, good pics of the wear on the sheaves COB from the Dayco..... Was that the HPX Dayco??

My buddy went with a Gatorback on his outlander, and after 4 DIFFERENT belts as they "REDESIGNED" them, he had had enough.. Then one day out of the blue, they sent him another, different one.. He never put it on his outlander, but apparently the GRIZZ belts are similar?? He put it on there, and it has been on there since... But, that is the only quad I have ever seen the Gatorbacks do even OK on.....

I'm really suprides in that Dayco COB, unless maybe it was one of their first.. I always thought the HPX belts were the closest of the bunch of aftermarkets but still not near OEM...
But that just goes to show ya...

Here is a Carlisle Ultimax belt at around 5 hrs or so... It was during the frirst actual ride on it... I let it idle around a bit, a little weary of the belt... but seemed ok, till I got INTO the ride...
I didnt let it actually EXPLODE, for hope to save sheaves and maybe cvt cover, but when a belt does this, you can tell, it is fixing to go...
