So this sunday I got to take out a 2009 Yellow Outlander 800R XT, and these are my impressions for you all to read.

First I thought that right out of the box the new style looks good a pleasent suprise was the black airbox cover (righ under the handle bars). The new decals and shape to the bumpers and grill make it look a litter tougher. Siting on it it really is just the same outlander we all love.

First ride at the dealership (Maverick Motorsports Laramie): I would like to say that right out of the box it would pick the front wheels up higher and quicker than my 08 did at stock settings. Seems like there might be a bit more torque. Drag race up the street stock to stock 09 was a nose ahead (which increased with more distance). With my 08 with the HMF penland pro and power commander dead even. So a pipe and powercomander is going to be needed.

Second ride trails right out of Albany WY. We all agreed that the 09 seems to have a quicker throttle response motor really zips through the RPMs. We all also agreed that it has the same great ride as the other older outlanders. 5 hours, one wreck, and a lot of mud later we decided that we were done.

Final thoughts: (this is just my opinion and I am not a pro ATV reviewer) First I didn't notice any cooler running motor from the new improved grill. Second there nothing ride wise that really made me go WOW! In fact switching back to my 08 I kinda felt that they were equal. Therefore, if you just bought a 2008 800 XT keep it you have a really good machine and the differences are not that much inorder to take that big of a hit unless you have to have black. Now for those guys with 07 and older definatly trade up because there is a huge list of improvements that you should be taking advantage of. This is a great machine and I just cannot say enough about the outlander 800 and the new look is most excelent.

Well that is all that I can remember for now I might add some stuff later and I think of it.

Now that is a review that you can sink your teeth into and come away satisfied. that sure beats any thing I have seen in the rags on any machine. This means far ore than any thing else you will read. Thanks for taking the ime to post your thoughts.

Hows snow up that way? Thinking about heading back to the old cabin west of CENTENIAL, would love to spend a nite there.

Great review, thanks. I am now even more looking forward to really putting mine through its paces this weekend. I made a short run with it Saturday, but nothing to compare it too other than memory, thanks for the details, and I will be doing some coparisons as well with my 06 840 and one of my old 800s that a buddy still has.

Thanks guys.

I did remember that we all said that the 45 to 65MPH was a bit faster than the stock Outy.

Wish that I could say more but there just wasn't enough difference except for the cool new look.

Cob - No snow in the low lands and the nights are a bit chilly around 45deg. Still snow clear up top of the Snowies last day of snowmobiling was June 29

Also Maverick is hosting the Can-Am 09 demo ride trailer at Albany September 7th check out Can-Am website to sign up for a ride.

Great to see all the ride reports coming in, be nice to see the new SP850 impressions too. Is Kaw, Honda and Yamaha releasing new machines too?

I do have one issue though BRPman...don't be telling us '06 owners to be trading up! It's hard enough sitting on the sideline, seeing all the neat new improvements, colors and features and being broke with out you encouraging me to buy a new machine! Big Grin

I'm just anxious for Cabman to get his so i can take a ride on it.

Only if you consider "BOLD NEW GRAPHICS" a new machine.

Soon as they put power steering and a locker on it, it's mine!! I really like the black. Yamaha better step up to the plate soon or they will be left behind, but I'm more than happy with just my "little" 700. Big Grin
