Granted I have spent every bit of 2 minutes looking at the bike but I can't (easily) see the oil filter on my '05 Outty 400 XT. ...I know...I'm lazy by nature.



Nevermind, I found it. I didn't take that stupid plastic cover off. Sheesh what a pain in the...

I agree, the 800 is like a Honda filter. Actually I think the 400 and 800 filter are the same part number. I sure wish they had put a spin on in there somewhere.

Yeah changing it is a pain, but I've never seen any dirt inside the compartment so maybe that's what they were going for. And yes ATVer all of the outlanders have the same part number for oil filters. 420256188 if anyone wants to know. KN also makes one I do believe.
