I tore down both of my Bombs last night and removed the exhaust system. I will clean up tonight and get boxed to be shipped out tomorrow morning. I am going to try the Jet-Hot Extreme Sterling coating on both. Looks like the two header pipes, muffler and pipe, and heat shields will cost $250 for each bike. The guy at Jet-Hot said would take about 7 days to do the complete process and ship back out. They are saying 300 degrees cooler on the pipes. If this is correct, it will definitely make the heat on my left leg much less. It really gets hot riding in the summer on the Bomb...
Will let everyone know the results. We are headed to Moab next month so should be a good test...

I just did that with my 800 header. The extreme is supposed to offer slightly better insulation properties over the sterling. I haven't been able to install mine yet. The finish is a little duller and has more of an orange peel texture.

I had performance coatings do mine last year. Well worth the money, and it sounds like what you are getting is suppose to be even better.
Mine was $120. for everything but the muffler.
It was definitly faster afterward.... ROFL

Well, Jet Hot has the muffler, tailpipe, two exhaust header pipes, and about six heats shields getting the Extreme Sterling coating on both Bombs. Took about 3 days to get there and will take about 7 days to get all done and back. I am really excited about the expected results. Total cost will be $530 (includes return shipping). Will post once I get them back.

Well, I shipped out the exhaust on the 4th. It is the 16th and I still don't have them back. I just talked to them and they said they had a problem with their quality control department. I told the lady that I need them in my hands no later than the 18th. They told me 5 to 7 days and 2 days extra for the Extreme coating. So, right now I am not very pleased with Jet Hot coating... They are suppose to call me later today on what they are going to do.. Will keep everyone updated.. We are heading out to Moab next week so this is becoming a problem....

They do sound pretty awesome with open exhaust, but I don't think earplugs will be enough... Also, I don't think our new radios would be heard either....
They went out at 5:00 pm last night and left Memphis at 9:00 this morning. I assume on their way to Houston. I am working from home tomorrow to make sure I am around since they require a signature. Should get them installed late tomorrow or Saturday for sure....

My parts still aren't here (Stator), been 2 weeks, I was in Moab for one day before I broke...so I'm extremely jealous and have a terrible urge to go back. May be next fall before that happens though.

You guys have a great time and looking forward to your reports. You have a camera for some pics don't ya PB ? Wink

PB, forgot about the earplugs and sound equipment. I think we are going to be ok on the noise....

The two Jet Hot packages did arrive yesterday about 3:00 PM. After inspecting the parts, I am very impressed with the quaility of their work. I guess I could say, as long as it took, it should be... But maybe I was over anxious since really getting short on time. They do look almost like chrome plating just not quiet as shinny. They definitely look good. I got the wifes exhaust back on and cranked it up. I ran about 10 minutes in the garage and let it warm up. All the shields were cold and the header pipes were really not that warm. You can almost touch. The rest of the system was cold back to the muffler. So, right now I am thinking it will make a big difference on the trail... Will get mine back together this morning. I should be able to tell next weekend in Utah on how much difference it really makes...
