What RPMs is it ideling at.

The idle is controled by the ECM and is actually not adjustable. It is likely that if its ideling to high, you have a problem. The ECM idle function is not adjustable even by your dealer.

Your machine should idle in the 1200-1350 range.

It is ideling in the 1250 range, so I guess if I can't adjust it - I don't really know what to think. It's not like it's running poorly. It creeps while in gear and I don't want it to do that - it didn't do it before I had to replace the CVT belt in the clutch.

I know in a Polaris, that would be clutch alignment assuming you are idling correctly. And it sounds like you are. Got a manual?

I work at a dealership and a lot of times when they come out of the box they have this problem.

Start the machine and put it in gear. Lock down your brake and let it run for 20 minutes or so. Then do the same in reverse. It should fix the problem.

Not only does it idle and kind of sneak forward or reverse when it's in gear. It's so hard to shift into the different gears. I am so frustrated and I'm worried about taking it into the dealer because I feel like all they are going to do is take advantage of me because I'm a girl. Grrrr undecided Yesterday I went riding in the snow down in southern mn & getting it into gear and into park, N, L, H, or R was an f-ing battle - it's not running bad or showing other signs that worry me just the creeping/sneaking and hard to shift in and out of gears.. C'mon guys let me know what you think I've got a long weekend in Danbury planned in a couple of weeks and would rather have a fun time than fight w/ my wheeler. Thanks for all your help and opinions. MG

Sure sounds like the idle is too high...it has to be under warranty, right? Take it in.

This problem is very common on Polaris quads, so I don't think that's a good idea Lon.

After that i am clueless. Like ATVer said, just take it in. That should be under warranty so don't worry about it. I'm just the parts guy so I just go on observation. Let us know what happens.

I guess I will just take it in and hope for the best - make sure that they give me an estimate and let me know what the problem is before they do any work. I did get an extended warranty so hopefully this will be covered under it. I just have plans to go to Danbury on March 1st - if I can find someone to ride with and also the next weekend with a group of friends that I haven't ridden with in a while and I would hate to miss those rides just because of the wheeler acting funny! Thanks for the advice ATVer and Brprider101 - I appreciate it. Well folks I've got some more work to do tonight before I can get to bed so I'm going to get to it and then get packed to head home tomorrow. Finally - I hate working away from home - makes me miss those nice sheets on my bed.... lol but maybe that is a girl thing? sleep Night guys and I'll keep you posted on what they tell me at the dealer - I think I'm going to take it to Truman Welters in Buffalo.

Always a good sign that you don't want to take the baby to the dealer cause it may be nice enough to ride... Smile

I know Lon, not trying to give you a hard time at all, I was doing the Outty hump too when shifting gears, but it does get a lot better after about 700 miles. Pretty easy now at 2500 miles. I think that is one of the best things about the King Quad, with that electronic shifter it feels like they all should.
