There's been some good feedback coming in from a lot of Bomb 800EFI owners, I thought it may be helpful for new owners to have a place to reference if they have any issues with their quad. Please feed any info you have to this thread, I will edit it as needed and/or add it to the main list. I hope this is useful.

DO NOT LET THIS LIST SCARE YOU, IT HAS BEEN COMPILED FROM MANY INPUTS FROM MANY 800EFI OWNERS. IF YOU PURCHASED ONE, YOU MAY ONE OR TWO OF THESE ISSUES, AND YOU MAY NOT SEE ANY.

Speedometer/Guage Malfunctions
I have seen 2 bad ones and 1 other reported here. Either the needle sticks, or the display does not switch modes. Fix not known yet, sounds like it may be an ECU problem. Quad still is useable. Update: the speed sensor fixed the speedometer problem, it is smooth through the 30-35mph now where it used to jump around.
FIX for speedo hanging or not reading corectly !! on the right side of the tranny just above the tranny fill plug is a black sensor with wires . its held on with one screw be carefull when removing not to dammage the o ring . clean the metal tooling debris from the back side of this magnetic speed sensor and reinstall . wala most speedo issues are cured . clean often on new quads !! this is from a BRP TSB .

Engine Light Comes On
This seems to be a temporary first ride thing. I don't know if there's a sensor settling in or what. Mine did this first ride, when it came on, I stopped and restarted the engine, light came back on after 5 minutes, after doing this 3 times, it stayed off. Main effect is thinking your new quad is broke. It's not.

Oil Leaks
Several reports of leaks at the drive shafts posted on this board. This is a dealer repair.

Noisey Front Brakes When Wet
First time I heard this I thought something serious was wrong, the noise is that bad. The report is that they all do it. Bombardiers response is that it's the metallic brake pad compound. Fix is to replace with a different brand of pads. Otherwise it's fun to scare your partners when you come up behind them and slam on the brakes.

Start Key Position
I may be the only one that's experienced this, if my ignition key is not in the right position, there are no lights and no starting. A simple jiggle of the key when you notice the dashboard lights aren't on cures all, but if you're not looking and are 30 miles from the truck, it scares you at first. Dealer fix.
Update: Turned out to be the wiring harness attached to the switch was loose according to the dealer. The problem was an easy fix, According to the local dealer this is suppose to be inspected by the dealer before delivery.

Difficult Shifting of Lever
If you stop in a position where there is pressure on the belt, the lever can be hard to move. You can remedy this by doing the "Outty Hump" which means you have to rock it, or be careful where you stop to shift. I have adapted and can tell when to shift it and when not to, I rarely have this problem. It's really a quirk you learn to live with. It has seemed to get better with the miles. Or I'm getting used to it??

Quad Moves While Idleing
The Friction washer that rides on the outside of the "throwout bearing" (I dont know what else to call it) on the clutch get stuck together keeping the clutch engaged too far therefore spinning the transmission while at idle. There was a recent tech bulletin issued to the dealers telling them to lubricate that washer to try to eliminate that problem. It was too late for mine and the problem came back very shortly after they fixed it. This does become a problem because the machine will continue to move while you are idleing and to shift you have to shut off the engine. I hope that nobody else experiences this problem but it appears as it it will be more predominant as time goes on.

High Pitched Noise from Rear of Quad
Gas tank vent line squeals when venting. The vent line is under the seat, toward the rear in plain view. Pinch this line while the noise is being generated and see if the noise goes away. It appears the material and vent size are perfect to make a whistling noise.

Firmware updates
2 software updates have been issued as of 3/28/06. 1 general one that is supposed to help the warmup time and a one called a remapping for high alltitude.

Pulling ECM Codes
1. Turn ignition to "Lights On" position.
2. Set speedometer to "Engine Hours"
3. Press and hold selector button while
switching the Hi-Lo beam 3 times in a row.
4. Diagnostics mode is activated now.
5. Use selector button to go through codes.
6. "END" will come up when all codes have been
displayed.
7. To end "Diagnostic Mode" hold the selector
button for more than 2 seconds.

Works Shocks, Cabelas Box and a "Helldarado" sticker.

Confidence is what you have before you fully understand the situation.

Can you reset your Service Engine lamp by doing this? I hate to take it to the dealer to have the lamp turned off every 25 hours.
