Yeah ATVer, stick it! ROFL

Oh yeah. Be sure your getting the right battery. I checked the price for my 700 EFI and, like in every catalog, it is the wrong battery.

I am need of a new battery for my 800 Max. Has anyone tried the gel style batteries??? I am looking at these at
http://ebatteriestogo.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen...&Product_Code=01-355
They handle several different manufactures...
This will be the third battery is less than 3 years. Looks like the alternator is functioning properly but after a while, battery will not take a charge... I also noticed they did list the 400 but not 800. The number on the YUASA is YTX20LBS and these are YTX15LBS. Anybody know what the difference is between the 15 and 20????
thanks

Their is a Gold wing battery That will fit if you make the battery box longer it's about a 1" longer and has more capacity.

After doing some research, azhonda is correct. The standard battery for the 650-800 Outty is YTX20HL-BS. Yuasa makes a slightly longer (almost exact width/height) about an 1" that fits most of the Gold Wing Hondas. Looking at the battery frame on the back of my 800, it would not require much modification to accommadate the extra 1" in length. When I buy a new battery, I will definitely buy the larger battery. The number is Yuasa YTX24HL-BS.

Sears Diehard # is 18L-BS for the larger battery.

It's exactly 1 inch longer then stock.

I'm waiting to see what the dealer Truman Welters says about my 650 battery situation. I found it dead on last Friday night and I jumped it with my truck. Then I rode it and it seemed fine and to be charging so I loaded it up to go riding on Saturday morning. Then Saturday morning I checked it and it's dead again. DAMN IT! So I called my group they said to come along and we'll just jump start it and then you can ride with us today. Then take it in on Monday! So I go up to Nemadji and it's running great even though I had to jump it ... we get a little over a mile out and the low battery comes on and then the check engine light comes on and the readout says limp home mode. So I go back load up and take it home get home the dealer is closed so I go get a fresh battery from Wal-mart not the best place but it's close to my house and the parade was the next day. So I put together the battery & charged it over night. On Sunday morning I took out my old battery put in the new battery. Ran my machine 7+ miles to make sure it would do okay - it ran great so I washed it and armour-all'ed it and took it to the parade 3/4 of the way through the parade the damn thing starts saying low battery. Then next the check engine light comes on and the read out is again limp home. So I make it through the parade and load it up to take to the dealer Monday morning - so I take it to the dealer and he can't get it to duplicate the problem while I'm there and I'm still waiting to hear what he has to say he thinks is wrong with it? I hope everything is under warranty. I'm thinking about selling it because I'm sick of worrying about it not running. GRRRRRR!!!! Then at my atv club meeting tonight all I heard about was that the bombardiers didn't run on Saturday or Sunday blah blah blah .... I'm so fed up with wheeling. Seriously is it a good thing to make fun of the single girl who can't figure out what to do with her wheeler besides take it into the dealer when I've done everything I know? GRRRRR!!! Hope you guys are having a better night than I am!!! I'm going to hit the sack and try to get some zzz's sleep Post if you've got any ideas?

Hey MG....I won't say "I told you so" but this is exactly what mine did except i put in a new battery and headed to Moab. Slap One word...Stator.
Could be the voltage regulator, but not likely.
Almost seems like if you lose your battery, it takes out the stator. Have you been doing a lot of winching?

I brought my original battery back into the dealership this morning and talked to Perry at Truman Welters - he said that he checked the stator and the voltage regulator and those two are right on target. So they are still trying to figure out what is going on & yes I always volunteer to pull people out when they get stuck and sometimes my wheeler had flashed low battery but I just figured that was because I'd been winching and I know that is hard on the battery. Perry said that I should hook it up to the charger after a day that was full of winching because our charging systems on the machines are for maintenance not for completely re-charging the batteries. However they are still searching for the problem. The check engine light is a little bit of a mystery at the point, but I'll let you all know what the diagnostic is when I get the information from Truman Welters - doesn't look like I'll be going wheeling anytime soon. So I think I'll probably head up to Fargo to visit a gf this weekend - her kids love me - I don't think the husband does ... but that is a story for another day! HA! Have a good one guys!

That's great news, maybe it is the regulator???? There's not much else there. Sometimes just because you get enough voltage out of the Stator, doesn't mean you are getting enough current. They'll get it.
Good Luck...
