The 800XT is on 08 model.
The 800R XT is an 09 Model.

The 09' has new ECM mapping to work in conjunction with a new intake and cam design. This new setup for 09 offer 9% more topend power than the 08' likely not more than 2-3hp difference in peak hp. What ever they did it seems to have gained a claimed 1 full second better 0-60 time.

To many models any more no matter what brand. Wasn't long ago you had your choice of a HONDU 300 or a ZUKI KING QUAD 280.

The "R" must stand for "REALLY FAST".

I have not herd anything official on what the R stands for, but I did here the intake and cam design along with mapping was curtisey of the Can-am race teams R and D. So I would guess that it might stand for something along the lines of Race or Race ready, just a guess.

I like Caujun's idea "REALLY FAST"

Its good thing they dropped the HO because riding a H-O-R might get a man in trouble with the misses . LOL

Sounds like a ploy to get a new one if I ever heard it.
